From opera and Hollywood to rock & roll, weddings, theater nights and generations of Atlanta celebrations, the landmark hotel invites the city to “Celebrate Shared History” throughout October.

ATLANTA — October 2, 2026 — For 115 years, Atlanta has changed around the corner of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The skyline rose. Midtown took shape. The Fox Theatre opened across the street. Hollywood came to town. Rock & roll filled historic ballrooms. Generations of Atlantans fell in love, celebrated weddings, gathered for dinners, attended performances, built businesses and watched their city become an international destination.

And through it all, The Georgian Terrace has been there.

Today, The Georgian Terrace marks its 115th anniversary, celebrating not simply the history of one hotel, but the remarkable, shared history of the people and city that have surrounded it since its doors opened in 1911.

The milestone launches a month-long “Celebrate Shared History” celebration, inviting Atlantans, hotel guests and visitors to experience the stories held within one of the city’s most enduring landmarks, and to add their own.

“The Georgian Terrace belongs to generations of Atlantans,” said Antonio Jones, General Manager of The Georgian Terrace. “For 115 years, people have walked through these doors for extraordinary occasions and everyday moments – weddings, performances, celebrations, dinners, first visits to Atlanta and nights at The Fox. Famous names are certainly part of our history, but so are the thousands of personal stories that have happened here. This anniversary is our opportunity to celebrate all of them and invite Atlanta to be part of the story that comes next.”

A GRAND HOTEL BUILT FOR A GROWING ATLANTA

When The Georgian Terrace opened in 1911, it arrived at a moment when Atlanta itself was rapidly growing and looking toward its future.

Designed by New York architect William Lee Stoddart, the original 10-story Georgian Terrace was conceived in the Beaux-Arts tradition and quickly became one of Atlanta’s most fashionable addresses.

More than a century later, the hotel remains an unmistakable presence at Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue, even as Midtown Atlanta has grown and transformed around it.

From its earliest years, The Georgian Terrace became intertwined with Atlanta’s cultural life.

Beginning in 1913, legendary tenor Enrico Caruso and members of the Metropolitan Opera made the hotel their Atlanta headquarters during visits to the city. In 1918, while studying at Georgia Tech, a young Arthur Murray taught dance lessons in the hotel’s ballroom – years before his name became synonymous with ballroom dancing around the world.

Over the decades, The Georgian Terrace welcomed an extraordinary collection of performers, cultural figures, dignitaries and travelers. Yet the hotel’s most enduring role may have been simpler: it became one of the places where Atlanta gathered.

THE NIGHT ATLANTA MET HOLLYWOOD

Few moments illustrate that role more vividly than December 15, 1939, when Atlanta hosted the world premiere of Gone With the Wind.

Hollywood descended on the city. Crowds filled downtown, movie stars arrived in Atlanta and the city found itself at the center of the film world.

The Georgian Terrace became part of the spectacle. Members of the film’s cast stayed at the hotel, which also became a gathering place connected to the premiere celebrations – an occasion that remains one of the best-known chapters in the hotel’s history.

The anniversary also recognizes the fuller historical context of that celebrated moment. Atlanta in 1939 was a segregated city, and the film’s Black cast members were excluded from the premiere festivities. Black Atlantans could line the parade route but were not permitted inside Loew’s Grand Theatre for the premiere.  Remembering that extraordinary night today means preserving its place in Atlanta’s cultural history while also acknowledging the realities of the era in which it occurred.

The hotel’s connection to Hollywood continued.

In 1946, Walt Disney stayed at The Georgian Terrace when Song of the South premiered across Peachtree Street at The Fox Theatre, adding another chapter to the long relationship between the hotel, its famous neighbor and Atlanta’s entertainment history.

FROM BALLROOM DANCING TO ROCK & ROLL

As Atlanta evolved, so did The Georgian Terrace. By the 1970s, a building once associated with grand dinners, opera stars and formal dances became part of another cultural movement when its ballroom became Alex Cooley’s Electric Ballroom.

A new generation came through the doors as the venue hosted artists including Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Patti Smith and the Ramones. For a hotel that had welcomed opera royalty and Hollywood stars, rock & roll became another chapter in a remarkably varied cultural history. The property even played a role in Atlanta broadcasting, with WBGE radio operating studios from The Georgian Terrace beginning in 1946.

Through periods of change, restoration and reinvention, The Georgian Terrace endured. Its preservation has allowed generations of guests to continue walking through a landmark that remains very much a living part of Midtown rather than simply a reminder of its past.

TWO ATLANTA LANDMARKS, ONE ICONIC CORNER

Perhaps no view captures The Georgian Terrace’s place in Atlanta better than Peachtree Street today.

On one side stands The Georgian Terrace. Directly across the street stands The Fox Theatre.

The Georgian Terrace predates its famous neighbor, opening in 1911 before The Fox emerged as a centerpiece of Atlanta’s performing arts landscape. Together, the two landmarks have come to define one of Midtown’s most recognizable cultural intersections. For generations, that relationship has made The Georgian Terrace a natural gathering place before and after the curtain rises – connecting Atlanta hospitality with Atlanta’s performing arts.

The hotel has watched Peachtree Street change around it for more than a century, while continuing to welcome the people who give the neighborhood its energy: performers and theatergoers, wedding parties and families, business travelers and vacationers, longtime Atlantans and first-time visitors.

115 YEARS OF FAMOUS NAMES — AND GENERATIONS OF PERSONAL STORIES

The history of The Georgian Terrace is not measured only in celebrities or headline-making events.

It lives in wedding photographs. Anniversary dinners. First dates. Family reunions. Business meetings. Holiday celebrations. Trips to see a show at The Fox. Children and grandchildren returning decades later to the hotel where previous generations celebrated milestones of their own. For 115 years, celebrations have been held here, careers have begun here, friendships have formed here and countless personal memories have become part of the hotel’s history.

That idea—shared history—is at the heart of this anniversary. The Georgian Terrace is not simply asking Atlanta to look backward. It is inviting the community to come through its doors and become part of the celebration.

ATLANTA IS INVITED TO CELEBRATE THROUGHOUT OCTOBER

Throughout October, hotel guests and Atlanta residents will encounter anniversary experiences, historical storytelling, dining specials and opportunities to become part of The Georgian Terrace’s next chapter.

A special lobby installation presented in partnership with the Gone With the Wind Museum at Brumby Hall and Gardens features Gone With the Wind dresses and celebrates the hotel’s connection to the film’s historic Atlanta premiere. Visitors are invited to photograph themselves with the display and share their best Gone With the Wind-inspired pose on property, tagging GeorgianTerrace on Facebook for an opportunity to win a complimentary overnight stay.

Additional experiences throughout the month will invite guests to interact with the hotel and its history, with opportunities to win hotel stays and dining credits at Livingston Restaurant + Bar and Proof & Provision. Guests can test how well they know the historic property with The Georgian Terrace Mystery Photo, which challenges them to identify a close-up detail hidden somewhere within the hotel for an opportunity to win a $25 gift card to dine or have a drink. Other experiences throughout the month will encourage guests to explore, photograph and celebrate different pieces of The Georgian Terrace’s history. Arriving hotel guests will also receive a complimentary welcome glass of Champagne or a nonalcoholic cocktail to toast 115 years at Peachtree & Ponce.

A TASTE OF 1911

The celebration extends downstairs to Proof & Provision, where anniversary specials give a playful nod to the hotel’s founding year.

Guests can toast 115 years with a $19.11 bourbon flight, a $19.11 “1911 Old Fashioned” presented in a vintage-style medicine bottle, 11 wings for $15, and a $19.11 “1911 Pizza.”

For guests who want to make the anniversary part of an Atlanta getaway, The Georgian Terrace has created a special Celebrate Shared History anniversary package.

Fans of this cherished destination are likely to find this new iteration to be well worth the wait thanks to a creative new menu designed by new executive and acclaimed chef Steven Meese.

Steven has combined the best of Livingston’s contemporary American fare with his own creative approach to European cuisine to create something uniquely his own. It’s the perfect way to reintroduce this beloved landmark to the Atlanta community.”

“It’s a real honor to be entrusted with reopening a restaurant like Livingston after the pandemic,” says Meese. “Atlanta is a beautiful city with a vibrant culture and a competitive culinary scene, and my goal is to create an extraordinary experience that honors all of that. We want to be the best restaurant in Atlanta and win a James Beard Award. There are a lot of incredible restaurants and chefs here, so we know we have our work cut out for us. That’s the challenge that has me excited to get out of bed in the morning.”

Meese’s menu showcases a mixture of local and European influences, a style he calls European Southern modern cuisine. “My background is Mediterranean and European,” says the Greek-born chef. “So there’s a mixture of French, Italian and Spanish along with the flavors of Georgia. I’m using a lot of locally sourced ingredients and many techniques like foams, fermentation, smoking and more.”

Highlights of the menu include appetizers such as tuna crudo with ponzu, pickled cucumber and matcha crisp and Baker Family Farms baby beets with Satsuma orange segments, goat cheese, egg emulsion and rye crumble; entrees such as White Oak Pastures braised short ribs with cipollini onions, fingerlings and heirloom carrots, Maine diver sea scallops with truffled Parmesan risotto and smoked chorizo hollandaise sauce, and winter squash ravioli with brown butter foam and fried sage leaves; sides such as Brussels sprouts with pancetta and Parmesan and ham hock collard greens; and desserts such as Meyer lemon meringue tart and seasonal fruit cobbler with buttermilk ice cream.

While preparing for the restaurant’s reopening, Meese immersed himself in Atlanta’s dining scene and met local farmers and providers with the assistance of The Georgian Terrace’s executive chef Fred Gilbert.

“Fred was executive chef for Wolfgang Puck,” Meese says. “He’s fantastic. He’s world-class. And that’s exactly the kind of team and the kind of experience I’m hoping to build at Livingston. To come to Atlanta and be competitive, every dish has to be on point, and every person has to be hungry, every day. What I tell everyone on my team is, ‘Whatever you did yesterday, I don’t care. It’s what you do today that matters.’ Every guest experience has to be amazing.”

Rental Fees

There is no rental fee for the reception but there is a food and beverage minimum applied to all events. The venue allows 4 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. The fee for a ceremony ranges from $500 to $1,500 with reception rental and ranges from $1,750 to $6,000 for a ceremony only wedding. Wedding Spot pricing is based off of Saturday evening wedding packages, please inquire for specific pricing for other days of the week.

Fans of this cherished destination are likely to find this new iteration to be well worth the wait thanks to a creative new menu designed by new executive and acclaimed chef Steven Meese.

“We’re thrilled to finally be reopening Livingston after so long,” says Todd Felsen, president and CEO of OTH Hotels Resorts. “And we couldn’t be more excited to have a world-class chef like Steven at the helm. Steven has combined the best of Livingston’s contemporary American fare with his own creative approach to European cuisine to create something uniquely his own. Meese’s menu showcases a mixture of local and European influences, a style he calls European Southern modern cuisine. “My background is Mediterranean and European,” says the Greek-born chef. “So there’s a mixture of French, Italian and Spanish along with the flavors of Georgia. I’m using a lot of locally sourced ingredients and many techniques like foams, fermentation, smoking and more.”

Highlights of the menu include appetizers such as tuna crudo with ponzu, pickled cucumber and matcha crisp and Baker Family Farms baby beets with Satsuma orange segments, goat cheese, egg emulsion and rye crumble; entrees such as White Oak Pastures braised short ribs with cipollini onions, fingerlings and heirloom carrots, Maine diver sea scallops with truffled Parmesan risotto and smoked chorizo hollandaise sauce, and winter squash ravioli with brown butter foam and fried sage leaves; sides such as Brussels sprouts with pancetta and Parmesan and ham hock collard greens; and desserts such as Meyer lemon meringue tart and seasonal fruit cobbler with buttermilk ice cream.

While preparing for the restaurant’s reopening, Meese immersed himself in Atlanta’s dining scene and met local farmers and providers with the assistance of The Georgian Terrace’s executive chef Fred Gilbert.

“Fred was executive chef for Wolfgang Puck,” Meese says. “He’s fantastic. He’s world-class. And that’s exactly the kind of team and the kind of experience I’m hoping to build at Livingston. To come to Atlanta and be competitive, every dish has to be on point, and every person has to be hungry, every day. What I tell everyone on my team is, ‘Whatever you did yesterday, I don’t care. It’s what you do today that matters.’ Every guest experience has to be amazing.”

The Georgian Terrace Hotel is one of the most notable hotels in the city of Atlanta and will be bustling more than ever with the reopening of its bar. Located directly across from The Fox Theater, The Georgian Terrace Hotel is the perfect spot for catching a bite to eat, grabbing a drink at happy hour, or just relaxing with friends.

After almost three years of being closed, guests will be able to enjoy all the vibes that The Livingston has to offer this Wednesday February 1. The menu alone will make it worth the wait. The new menu at this swanky bar is curated by executive Chef Steven Meese. Guests will enjoy a new world of contemporary fare as well as European cuisine inspired by Stevens t create a unique cuisine of its own.

Meese hopes to win a James Beard Award as the best restaurant in the city! The new menu will show case a mixture of local and European influences. Meese said guests can expect to experience “a mixture of a mixture of French, Italian and Spanish along with the flavors of Georgia.” Appetizer dishes include tuna crudo with ponzu, pickled cucumber and matcha crisp. Entrees will include entrees such as White Oak Pastures braised short ribs with cipollini onions, fingerlings and heirloom carrots, Maine diver sea scallops with truffled Parmesan risotto.

Livingston Restaurant + Bar Reopens in the Historic Georgian Terrace

Livingston Restaurant + Bar, the Atlanta dining institution located inside the historic Georgian Terrace hotel, has reopened its doors after almost three years. Fans of this cherished destination are likely to find this new iteration to be well worth the wait thanks to a creative new menu designed by new executive and acclaimed chef Steven Meese.

“We’re thrilled to finally be reopening Livingston after so long,” says Todd Felsen, president and CEO of OTH Hotels Resorts. “And we couldn’t be more excited to have a world-class chef like Steven at the helm. Steven has combined the best of Livingston’s contemporary American fare with his own creative approach to European cuisine to create something uniquely his own. It’s the perfect way to reintroduce this beloved landmark to the Atlanta community.”

“It’s a real honor to be entrusted with reopening a restaurant like Livingston after the pandemic,” says Meese. “Atlanta is a beautiful city with a vibrant culture and a competitive culinary scene, and my goal is to create an extraordinary experience that honors all of that. We want to be the best restaurant in Atlanta and win a James Beard Award. There are a lot of incredible restaurants and chefs here, so we know we have our work cut out for us. That’s the challenge that has me excited to get out of bed in the morning.”

Meese’s menu showcases a mixture of local and European influences, a style he calls European Southern modern cuisine. “My background is Mediterranean and European,” says the Greek-born chef. “So there’s a mixture of French, Italian and Spanish along with the flavors of Georgia. I’m using a lot of locally sourced ingredients and many techniques like foams, fermentation, smoking and more.”

Highlights of the menu include appetizers such as tuna crudo with ponzu, pickled cucumber and matcha crisp and Baker Family Farms baby beets with Satsuma orange segments, goat cheese, egg emulsion and rye crumble; entrees such as White Oak Pastures braised short ribs with cipollini onions, fingerlings and heirloom carrots, Maine diver sea scallops with truffled Parmesan risotto and smoked chorizo hollandaise sauce, and winter squash ravioli with brown butter foam and fried sage leaves; sides such as Brussels sprouts with pancetta and Parmesan and ham hock collard greens; and desserts such as Meyer lemon meringue tart and seasonal fruit cobbler with buttermilk ice cream.

While preparing for the restaurant’s reopening, Meese immersed himself in Atlanta’s dining scene and met local farmers and providers with the assistance of The Georgian Terrace’s executive chef Fred Gilbert.

“Fred was executive chef for Wolfgang Puck,” Meese says. “He’s fantastic. He’s world-class. And that’s exactly the kind of team and the kind of experience I’m hoping to build at Livingston. To come to Atlanta and be competitive, every dish has to be on point, and every person has to be hungry, every day. What I tell everyone on my team is, ‘Whatever you did yesterday, I don’t care. It’s what you do today that matters.’ Every guest experience has to be amazing.”

Rental Fees

There is no rental fee for the reception but there is a food and beverage minimum applied to all events. The venue allows 4 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. The fee for a ceremony ranges from $500 to $1,500 with reception rental and ranges from $1,750 to $6,000 for a ceremony only wedding. Wedding Spot pricing is based off of Saturday evening wedding packages, please inquire for specific pricing for other days of the week.
